How does Amazon India Seller Pricing work?

Amazon India charges sellers three primary fees per order:

  • Referral Fees: A percentage fee based on the item category (e.g. 5.5% for smartphones, 13.5% for apparel). Rates vary by pricing tiers in selected domains.
  • Closing Fees: A fixed fee layered by item selling price tiers (e.g. ₹0-250, ₹251-500, etc.) and your fulfillment choices (Easy Ship, FBA, Self Ship). FBA has slightly higher closing fees but boosts sales.
  • Weight Handling Fees: Standardized shipping fees based on the actual weight of the package and shipping distance (Local, Regional, National).

Note: In addition, a standard 18% Goods and Services Tax (GST) is levied on the sum of all Amazon fee deductions. This is entirely separate from the GST you pay on the physical product!
